The following information will help guide you through our photography procedure.

Overview
Basically, an assignment is divided into 6 stages: scouting and consultation, estimate and timeline, execution, post-production, and delivery. I keep my clients informed about the job status with daily emails. If time allows, I provide a sample of the work attached to the emails. Inquires are always welcome, and I will respond as soon as possible by email.

Scouting and Consultation
A concise observation is made of the location. We determine if the images should be taken during the day or in the evening. At this time we determine what is expected from all parties involved and what final images are likely to result.

Estimate and Timeline
With the information gathered from the initial visit, I prepare an estimate with all the factors including a timeline and costs. The estimate must be signed and a deposit received to book your shoot. A signed Purchase Order is acceptable in lieu of deposit. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise a cancellation fee will apply. In the event of a cancellation due to weather, all parties involved will be notified by me and must remain flexible for the next available day. Depending on the nature of the weather delay, exterior landscapes may need to be refreshed.

Execution
Lighting is the key to successful photography and can be one of the most time consuming parts of a shoot. Some assignments require very little specialized lighting, while others demand an extensive setup to achieve the right results. Digital photography allows instant review of each shot so that any necessary adjustments can be made very quickly. On average, each photograph takes approximately one hour to compose, light, and verify the digital image. A good image must have enough information to reference the space in physical scale and help the viewer to establish perceptual reference points. Such a reference point may be a person next to the pool, a coat, fresh flowers, a teapot on a stove, or other commonly recognizable object. Exact staging and arranging is required to achieve the special look that makes a room appear warm and inviting. Half-day shoots are limited to 5 hours and include simplified lighting and limited coverage. A custom kitchen, custom deck, a room addition, and a dramatic front exterior are great examples of areas that can be done in 5-hour shoots. Prior arrangements should be made with the housekeeping & landscaping services to ensure their cooperation.

Post-Production
Post-production starts once all images have been shot. RAW processing, cropping, color correction, image editing, and special graphic treatments require considerable time. All image files are prepared at one time to ensure consistency. Although part of a project may be postponed due to inclement weather, final files will not be available until completion of the project.

Delivery
All photographic images are delivered on CD in the Jpeg file format unless otherwise specified. The client may request a portfolio of 2 up color copies along with contact sheets each containing 15-20 numbered images and accompanying CDs. A basic FTP or email delivery is also available. The finished hard copy materials will be expedited by FedEx overnight delivery or delivered in person with outstanding balances due upon delivery.

Special Effects & Composites
Each image is digitally enhanced to artistically transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. All elements, textures, and environments are harmonized for the ultimate in architectural imagery. Since the conditions at every site are different, I will consult with you regarding the photographic problems and solutions during the job site visit. My initial interpretation of possible images at this time are only meant to be a generalized overview. If you are not able to meet at the location, I will shoot low resolution scouting images and forward them to you by email and we can discuss them on the phone. All final compositions will be determined the day of the shoot. Pricing guidelines reflect the time consuming process involved in creating nothing less than a work of art. My liberal usage agreement allows clients to benefit from their initial investment for an extended period of time. Once I have composed and photographed a scene or group of scenes, I will forward images to you via email for comments and approval. Digital corrections and adjustments are then made as necessary. All final images are delivered digitally on CD-R and archived by me for 10 years. Release forms are provided upon request.
